Bolero built in Bluetooth?

Featured Replies

I fitted my bolero today got it at a low price as the cd changer doesn't function in it (may get it repaired some point in the future) it has a mac address printed on it am I right in saying that this means it has built in Bluetooth? If so how do you get it to work as my phone can't see it and it won't let me select the Bluetooth option

Cheers

Dan

The Bolero requires a separate BT module which is installed under the passenger seat.

Correct doesn't come with Bluetooth separate unit you will need to buy and use vcds... think cost me around 175 quid of fleabay

Yeah i have maxidot and i use android phones as a long time repairer of phones i'm sick of seeing iPhones

If you want cheap, search out older 5n0 035 730 a/b/c or 3c8 035 730 (no suffix) modules. They are old as I say but work with maxidot in pre FL and are cheap (can be had for £20 if you are lucky on eBay).  They work with Android phones (Samsung out of the box, or others with an app for about £7.50), the only issue being they don't do music streaming or newer premium services like WiFi hotspot. They are no good for iPhones but doesn't sound like that is an issue for you.

This is what I used to have and it was good enough for calls and even reading texts on the maxidot (a gimic really and not advised!). Phil-E also has the same and is worth speaking to as I am now a bit sketchy on how it works exactly.

Hope you don't mind me jumping onto your question but I'm in a similar position.

I have a '10 plate, Mk2 vRS, no maxidot and am thinking about putting bluetooth in for my old android phone. Can anyone tell me what part number I'd need to be looking out for and if it is easy enough to wire in?

Thanks :)

Without maxidot you are limited to units which pair from the phone end and that are operated from the head unit (HFP only non premium modules).  These at least work with all phones though and support streaming.  Look for 5k0 035 730 d or above or 7p6 035 530 j or above on eBay. You will also need the wiring loom to link it to the Bolero? head unit and mic.  There are plenty of threads on here which explain how to wire it in, it is pretty easy.

Has anyone used to the chinese made looms? theyre a third of the genuine ones cost?

If you mean the ones sold with older 1k8 modules, I've heard they are a bit hit and miss.

To be fair, those would work for me as I have a pre-fl with a 2012 bolero and I would never buy an iphone, but I'm guessing it's not just the module you'd need, wouldn't there be a loom or two or a load of other stuff to source as well??

Bummer! There's no way of doing it cheap is there?! (rhetorical question)

There is a cheaper loom on that site for soldering but its a little more fiddly. Failing that its waiting Greece to bail on the Euro...
