actually the saving is pennies really when splitting it, so not worth it when you factor in uk shipping.

what about the EGR pipe? a pain to remove on the pd170 as far as i am aware

It's a bit longer than the ve engines and 1 more bolt I think. The egr unit looks easier as it's right at the front of the engine.

Last fill 41.3MPG, so its better, but not great. But that is sitting in traffic a lot each day.

The rear exhaust cam has no setting in VCDS so harder to get right, it at all. I had mine on a dyno at the time so the tuning company was adjusting it on the go, then trying again etc etc

Can you show me this EGR kit delete? and does it keep the anti shudder device ?

Cheers

Just checked my consumption... 3.23l/h way out. What do I have to do to fix that?

41.3 miles to a gallon if that is what it worked out at for every gallon is pretty good.

You must have times where you get only 25-30 miles from a gallon, so an average needs highs as well as lows.

Sitting not moving with an engine can mean you are achieving 0 MPG. ' for a lot each day'. But you are not using no fuel obviously.

I always go over an average per full tank

41mpg average sounds reasonable if in a lot of traffic

I don't know how exactly the EGR pipe is to remove, as the cooler is underneath the manifold as far as i have seen, its not like the PD140

Anyone who has done one on here would be helpful!

Just trial testing adding Comma 2 stroke mineral oil to diesel the as many good results from people even with the same engine

Fuel economy increase being main factor

300ml then brim the tank, works out as touch over 5ml per liter (200 to 1 dilution)

Will report back with finding over time

I have added two stroke for quite a long time now to cars I have owned... as well as improved mpg, the older diesel engines are much smoother running... I used to add acetone to a campervan a few years ago... Ford 2.5 N/A (normally aspirated) as that had the Bosch pump which was more tolerant than other makes (seals)  ... it would also run well on cooking oil when that was financially advantageous.

The camper was a twin rear wheel LWB Hi-top weighing in at just under 3300Kg fully loaded (3500Kg gross without a trailer), fuelled and watered, and returned 35mpg brimful to brimful and mileage verified on sat nav when fuel treated with acetone @ 3,000:1... :)

The VW 1.9TDi in my Octavia is very smooth anyhow and MPG excellent, so not sure if two stroke added to fuel will improve an already excellent engine ?

If you have a DPF DO NOT USE WVO/ SVO or BIO!!!!!!! Mind you I have done that maths and I am still pounds in pocket so I am happy. And I have a nice shiny engine that has done 2000 miles since the rebuild and I checked the oil earlier... still golden! :)

Thanks for that Whitep ... I did not intent to run this one on other than diesel fuel, or add acetone to the fuel just in case... I wonder if adding two stroke is still advisable with a DPF ... shouldn't think it will be harmful ?

Probably be OK, the problem was the various bugs and chemicals in the BIO I think, when the DPF was regenerating it was getting into the engine oil. But the older PD's and VE engines run brilliantly. Better even. And I used Acetone, White Spirit, Petrol, Xylene all sorts of additives in winter. Pertol was the easiest, not the cheapest though.

  • 2 weeks later...

I've been reading your posts with great interest, 35mpg at 70 mph in sixth gear, mmmmm. My 2ltr engine ( 85K ) doesn't like sixth gear at low speed, fourth or fifth would give a better fuel figure for me, up around the 55 - 60 mark. Just a thought - have you tried the same test running in fourth and then running in fifth to see what figures you get? Just a thought.

I'll give it a go. I'll try anything at the mo.
