Xperia Z3 - keeps on wanting pin

Featured Replies

Thought I would start a new thread for this. Bad phone issue at the moment which started yesterday evening. basically when I swipe and put in 4 digit pin, I get to see my homescreen for about 2 seconds, then it immediately flicks back to wanting the pin number again. I just can't use it. I have tried restarting, and a soft reset using the pin button where the sim goes in. Because I can't unlock it to use it, I am unable to affect a hard reset.

EE shop at lunchtime recommended in safe mode (which I have it in now but does same thing) to connect to PC / Sony Companion and see if a software repair is possible. The only coincidence is last Tues/Weds the phone upgraded to 5.0 Lollipop software and to be fair, has been running better than ever on it. Until last night.... :( Amazing how much you rely on a smartphone sometimes eh? Bloody app for everything.

Does this work?

Does this work?

That loophole has been closed under lollipop.

It's almost certainly Google play services. Swipe down and disable mobile data. Wait a moment and you should find your problem goes away

V7.0.99 is buggy as heck and has also broken smart unlock by location. V7.3.28 is currently pushing out to devices

When locked the phone is saying "mobile data is turned off" although I can only turn Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on and off from the locked screen.  No option to turn mobile data on and off.

It's not that my pin isn't working - I still get "incorrect pin" if I mistype it.  It's just once I have put it in, it just unlocks for about 1 second, then goes back to want the pin again. :(

Have you tried doing a hard reset through the Sony software on your PC?  Or as a last resort using recovery mode on the phone?  I can't think why it would keep locking as I was thinking perhaps the power button is faulty but I'm assuming that turns the screen off rather than locking the screen?

Try rebooting in safe mode?

Made no difference. :)  Have just finished doing full software repair process on pc companion.  Hoping it reboots and work normally.  Might have lost some data but it won't be much or critical to me. :)

Well, it has literally gone back to barebones - phone factory start-up, so I have now re-signed into google and it's sticking all my apps back on for me.  Looking a bit more hopeful but this evening will be busy on my wi-fi :D

Hopefully you're pics should have uploaded to G+, so should be safe.
