First Skoda

Featured Replies

HI All,

This is my first Skoda. I've always thought they were excellent cars and now I have first hand experience of one, they are!

Had a 740 Volvo Est for 22 years before went to the "rest" yard. 390,000 miles ( Got it with 84,000 on the clock). Was just getting too rusty, too much welding, and parts for the injection system had to come from abroadshire - very expensive, and fuel bill and tax was high.

And last year, the offer of the Fabia  2003, with 60,000 mile was too tempting so I went for the newer, sleeker model.  I've warned her indoors about this, but she just laughs at me: wonder why?

Had a VW golf for 16 years and they are quite similar (Obviously), sub frame welding and injection problems and just worn out, so it too went to the scrappies.

Had a pal in the Embra area, Bonnyrigg to be precise, who was a Skoda nut. That was 35 years ago, lost touch since then.  He put a turbocharger and lots of other stuff on his Skoda, that was back in the day when that stuff was avant-gard, he got a wright up in MMM.

Looking forward to keeping the Fabia on the road for the next decade or two, fingers crossed!

All the best to one and all, and remember "...we're all Jock Tamson's bairns, mister."

Tony:-)

Hi, You are sure do like getting your money's worth out of your motors the time you keep them. My downfall, I get bored with the same dash after a while.
