Hi

I have in the past stored my music on the SD card in the format of Artist/Album/Track as this was suggested to me initially. Is it OK to remove one level of directory and just go for Artist-album/track to make it quicker to navigate?

Also is there an option to play tracks at random across all tracks on the SD card?

Many thanks

Martin

I store all my music on the HDD and each album is in it's own folder named "artist name - album name" then the songs for that album just within that folder. If the album has more than one disc i have a seperate folder for each of the discs with the album folder.

All these folders are just stored in the root of the HDD. Maybe not to everyone's taste but it means when i scroll through all my albums it places them all in artist order and then by album order when there is more than one by any particular artist but all on the same list. and all visible without going into another level etc....

To me this is easier than having to find the artist then select then find the album etc.....

I did have all my music on the HDD but found if I ran that and the Nav for an extended time (drive to southern France) it would overheat and reset. Since playing from SD instead it is fine

I use a 32GB SD card most of the time as it is much easier to manage the content by just removing it and plugging it into my PC - and I also keep music in folders by artist. I then select my 'all time' favourites from the SD to copy to the HDD. I usually use the SD (and HDD) in 'Mix' mode but found that I needed just one track (could be a couple of seconds of silence) on the root directory for it to be able to then mix tracks from any folder. I've updated the firmware a couple of times since I discovered that so not sure if it's still true.

Thanks Chris - I will give it a try

I tried this but the silence file was the wrong format and it errored so I copied one track to the root and all it does in mix mode is replay that without playing any of the tracks in the folders

Any ideas?

Just had a thought - there's a setup option in Setup->Media that you select or de-select as appropriate...

■ Scan/Mix/Repeat including subfolders - plays all MP3 data one after the other according

to the sequence on the played medium, which are stored in the folders

and subfolders.

...check that setting if you haven't already.
