Engine stalled

Featured Replies

When I set off to take swmbo to work this morning I drove about 50 yards to the end of the street and the engine suddenly cut out as I coasted up to the junction. I tried several times to start it, but the engine was just cranking over and wouldn't fire. Eventually, it felt as though it was starting to pull some fuel through and it then fired up and has covered about 5 miles since without a hitch. The car is a '09 vRS CR Tdi and has covered 69,000 miles.

Anyone got any ideas ??

ASV valve stuck? Blocked Fuel Filter? Leaky fuel pipe letting air in, not diesel out? Had all 3 on previous cars.

What is the ASV valve ?? I changed the fuel filter last year, and there is no sign of any leaky fuel pipes.

I did exactly the same routine this morning with no issues whatsoever.

What is the ASV valve ??

Anti Shudder Valve - when you switch ignition off, the valve shuts and cuts off air supply so the engine stall immediately. Located near the inlet manifold.
