Golf GTD/GTD spec improvements for MY16

Featured Replies

May be of interest to some.....

Looks as though the GTD and GTI Golfs are gaining the following equipment as standard for MY16

MIB2 Discover Nav

Winter Pack

Keyless Entry

Been a slight price hike but nice spec increase over last years model all the same. Bizzarely the R doesnt get the additional kit.

Be nice if Skoda followed suit to some degree with the vRS....id imagine once stocks of the MIB1 Amundsen run dry nav will be an option again.

it would as thats what ive ordered as extras

Interesting - one to watch... thanks for the info

April pricelist for Golf Estate.

All mentioned items are now listed as standard equipment in the configurator and no longer available as options....though the Golf hatch brochure is yet to be updated.

Been spoken about a great deal on the Mk7 forums.

Looking at various broker websites the price rise has already taken effect. However the lack of updated price lists or brochures together with VW's shambolic configurator means nobody is really certain what's standard and what costs extra.

strange this is on the estate only as these are still cost options on the hatch, is this to pull in the VRS and FR customers from skoda and seat to the gtd/i estates

I personally think the launch of the estate from BW22 is what is going to lead to the hatch also getting the additional spec from BW22.

I suppose the GTD and to a lesser degree the GTI are VW's staple warm hatches so probably feel the need to throw on additional spec to drive sales....bit likw when they threw leather, Bluetooth and DAB at the MK6 version.

There's a strong likelihood the hatch will be getting additional equipment as the price has just been bumped up by about £900, that's more than an inflationary increase. However until VW releases an updated price list and brochure you'd probably have to speak to VW or to a VW dealer to find out exactly what the new specs are.

The configurator throws up some weird anomalies, such as winter pack being standard with cloth seats, but extra cost if you order leather. Also the new Deep Ocean Blue is listed as metallic on the main website but configurator says £0!

Being honest with myself though (having just looked into getting a GTD)....if I do drop my own money on another VAG group car it will more likely than not be a vRS TDi estate.

I can get a reasonable discont on the GTD and as an object of desire (sorry folks) I do overall prefer it but VW's solution deals are just pap by comparison.....despite the terrible depreciation a sensibly optioned (i.e hardly) and discounted vRS on PCP represents alot of car for the money still...as well as being more practical. They are difficult to ignore facts.

In any case a friend of mine has a year old Mk7 GTi manual 5 door, metallic, full leather and Keyless, a 29k car and was only offered 19k trade for it....so I dont think the Golf really is fairing a great deal better overall.

Apparently VW announced these GTI/GTD MY16 spec changes on 1st June, this was taken from one of the MK7 forums. Configurator backs it up, brochures are still from mid may and yet to be updated:-

Enhanced specification for Golf GTD and GTI

01 June 2015

We’re improving the standard specification on Golf GTI and GTD, making these models even more attractive

Enhanced specification for Golf GTD and GTI VW0634-15

VW0634-15

We’re adding some great new options to standard spec on all MY16 Golf GTD and GTI models, making them even more attractive than their competitors.

To support this offer, we’re promoting the Golf with marketing activity worth £1 million.

All units built from week 22 (starting 25 May) onwards will come with the following options, worth a fabulous £1,515 to the customer, as standard:

Discover Navigation – £750

Winter Pack – £400

Keyless Entry – £365

These items have been automatically added to all orders in the pipeline that will be built from week 22 onwards. Most of these customer deliveries should reach your sites from late June.

MY16 GTD or GTI orders with one (or a combination) of these options will consign at the lower price (ie excluding the option cost). Please make sure this saving is passed on to the customer.

The Golf GTD Estate was launched with these options included as standard.
