Hello everyone I've just joined this website to get some expert advice. I currently drive an Audi A3 diesel Quattro (170bhp) and I'm thinking about getting an Octavia VRS but I can't decide whether to go for a petrol or diesel. My annual mileage is around 7000 miles but it's mainly around town and by the time I get to work now my Audi hasn't got warm as I only live 5 miles from work. What are your views on this anyone.

Welcome to the Forums!! :) :)

Well you may find this post a bit annoying or you may find it helpful, so have a good read and let me know what you think of it. This maybe or maybe not what you want to hear. Also I maybe completely wrong with my answer................

Well I would suggest get a Skoda CityGo (I know it's not fast but it's great for city life and is okay on Motorways, I know it would be like getting from running pace and then getting on a snail) if you are only doing 7000 miles a year. Considering if you are getting a nice Audi, You may consider the top of the range CityGo with a touchscreen display. Also Audi's and Octavia VRS's are for long haul journeys. I would not suggest either Audi A3 or Octavia VRS.

You wanted to know whether diesel or Petrol. Well it's up to you. Diesels get good MPG on long runs (Petrol and Diesel won't get good MPG in city driving, Especially both of them.) and I would go for the Petrol. My brother has been having a long discussion on whether to get a Petrol or Diesel Skoda next because most Petrols are TSI and they sometimes have a lot of problems. Diesel are usually used for long runs and aren't good round stop/start traffic.

By the way big engines won't be good round stop/start traffic.

Is it a 2.0L that you are getting?

Hope this helps, Or it hasn't! :)

Hiya KangarooReviews2014,

thanks four your response. I would part ex-ing my Audi for it. The car i fancy is the Octavia VRS diesel DSG with flappy paddles for changing gears with but i cant decide if it warrants me getting a diesel or not.

Can somebody please tell me how many miles you get out of a full tank of fuel in the PETROL VRS this could help make my mind up.
