A lesson learned!

Just a quick post to hopefully help someone with not just this problem but to never ever rule anything out.

I've posted quite a few times now regarding my totally p@!s poor gear change and the things I've done to try and rid my life of this awful affliction!

Back in 2011 ( found receipt ) i had an issue with the clutch pedal sticking down on the floor. So after a search on Briskoda it looked like it was a faulty slave cylinder. As i needed a few other jobs done too i booked the car into my usual vag specialist who informed me it was probably best to replace both the slave and master cylinder as it could be either causing the problem. So job done all fine thought that's it. Now this is where it gets confusing because the issue has bugged me for so long i can't remember when the change started being bad but as those things had been changed i ruled out slave/ master cylinders. So, a few years on and despite two gearbox oil changes, new dogbone bush, new bush under the gear lever, draft 42 linkage bushes fitted, and numerous alignments things come to a head on Friday because when you need to go backwards I've always found reverse is handy for this! But doing a u - turn in rush hour when your gearbox point blank refuses to agree just p&@^!s me right off. So airbox battery box rove off decided to start at the beginning before the gearbox was removed. So slave cylinder taken off revealed fluid all over the place just 4 years after being fitted. A trip to my nearest scap yard got a second hand one for a fiver. System bled back up omg its totally transformed!! I forgot what a nice change felt like. Its early days but I've gave the car a good run out today ( also found out the Audi TTS goes extremely well! ) and its slicing nicely through the box with a single finger. Moral is if your having issues with anything at all go back through everything and do not count anything out at all even if that part has been changed. I don't know if it was faulty from new but to last only 4 years isn't too good imo. Hope this helps.
