Rear clanking noise from suspension?

Featured Replies

I have this clanking noise coming from the rear passenger side of the vrs. It sounds like if you hit two thin metal rods together. I happens when driving off in first and second up to about 10mph on flat or uneven road.

I've had a look and can't see the probem, any ideas?

Rear subframe bushes?, broken roadspring or bumpstop?.

Could be the exhaust knocking on something. Check the rubber mounts see if there allowing too much movement. Other than that its either the rear beam bushes or bad shock absorber/springs. Try pushing the back end up and down see if the noise is there.

I had a rattle / clanking at the rear of my estate . Was the shocker top mount .removed the two bolts and turned out to be shocker not tightend into it .niped it up and all was well.

could also be the bracket from the center section of exhaust . It  tends to break and exhaust does a little bounce off the subframe .It sounds like that .

Had mine welded twice but it only lasts a few months before it breaks again

I had this issue also at my last service. They said it was a common fault also. Welded.
