Two problems in one week....radio stopped working!

So, some of you hopefully remember me whining about my drivers door being dead. Well today I got in to find my radio totally dead! It's an alpine unit with removable face plate so I took that off and put it back, now all the backlights on it come on but no information is presented. The weird thing is this backlighting persists even when the key is removed which it's previously never done. Is it likely related to the dead door? I'll be honest I've not checked fuses or anything at all yet as I was pretty ****ed off by this. 

Anyone got any suggestions on why the radio is dead?
