New turbo, exhaust oil seal leaking

Featured Replies

Hi there,

As the title says, I've got a new turbo after the original one was about to die. When we fitted the new one, we have run oil through the bearing, oil feed and return pipes cleaned with carb cleaner and blasted with compressed air. Didn't change oil as was only 5 weeks old.

There is grey/blue smoke comming from the exhaust so have taken intake pipes down which were clean, then the downpipe - the picture below shows how it looks like. Xman says his turbos are pressure tested on 3bars during balancing so the problem could be on my side. I'd like to rule out other problems before I ask him to replace the unit.

So the questions are:

What is the best and easiest way to check oil return (and ports) for blockage.

How to check the crack case breather is working as should?

The engine is 2.0 PD140, BKD
