Picked up an Admundsen+ 315 need maps

Featured Replies

Hey. Finally got myself a unit. I've fitted it but just waiting for GPS antenna to arrive off eBay...

The maps currently installed is saying Western Europe 0031. Not sure how old these are but probably 2-3 years old?

I've spent hours reading through threads about updating maps and I believe the only way of doing this is to get hold of an sd card with maps? Obviously maps are installed on the internal memory on this unit. If I get an sd card, say new for argument sake. Could I just plug in the card and use rather than install to memory? It's only 4gb space on memory so not sure how big the map size is on the cards? I assume if the card is in it'll automatically use this over the old maps installed on hardrive?

I've spoken to a couple of dealers and price they're giving me is 144 quid which is shocking. Kind of wish I'd have gone for rns310 now cause believe you can use discs for maps etc.

Last question sorry. Is it possible to use VW sd map cards in skoda? I've found a new cArd on eBay from Germany and they say it can be used on Admundsen+ Cheers guys

Unfortunately the RNS310 is essentially the same as the RNS315, so they both update off SDCard.

No, you have to update the maps, you can't just "use" the card.

Yes, the price is shocking. Have a look on eBay for the best deal, or be prepared to part with arm, leg and 1st-born. The card is a one-shot too, so you can't resell it once done.

You should be able to use the update from VW in the Skoda. You *might* end up with a VW splash screen. The differences betwen VW/Skoda/SEAT are costmetic, not functional.

For the price, you could have got an RNS510 and get the maps from "elsewhere" ;) ;)

Exactly all the reasons I went for a Columbus!

Plus the Amundsen wouldn't have played with my maxidot.

There's a bloke on another forum who says he can provide maps updates for the RNS315 unit. You send him your genuine card and €70 and he sends the card back with maps on it. Or he sends you a card and you return it to him if you don't have a card.

At least, that's what he says. Whether it's an elaborate scam or not I don't know, but I'm not about to spend hard earned with him to find out.

Yup, it's not a great unit for updating then is it. Originally I was planning on getting the 510 but decided on 315 because I got it at a really good price £200, so I don't mind spending a little bit for the maps but like you say, not 144 quid! :0

This is the one I'm looking at on eBay. Pretty good price. V6 so not latest but would be half decent?

Yea don't blame you rusty. I'd be a bit wary also. I suppose at least with ebay, can check feedback and some protection with PayPal maybe?

Yeah, I'd rather spend €89 on Ebay and have some protection instead of sending €70 off to someone I don't even know is alive. Not a bad deal at £200 for an Amundsen + unit. Does it have DAB & Bluetooth?

Yup, Bluetooth but no dab. Came with the code also. The only thing I had to buy was GPS antenna. Already got mic built in my car which is good!

The rns315 is my old unit they do support maxi dot as i had it fitted my superb, the only down side it the dealer only map updated sd cards, that sd card off ebay isn't up to date as the current version is v7 & soon v8 will be out / i did sell it to him cheap & i even coded it in free.

It sure does mate cheers. The navigation on maxi dot works a treat. Very impressed with it.

murph, You think I should just wait for the a good deal on the v7 rather than getting the v6. I'm not too bothered about having the very latest. V6 would prob be good enough for a while?
