A Skoda car with Park Assist and ACC already has enough power assisted control over the movement of the car. Potentially it shouldn't be difficult to achieve something similar to what's shown in the article over SmartGate which already has access to the CAN bus.

An interesting project for the weekend for the people that know how ;-)

JLR are going away from CANBus to Flexray, enabling a faster throughput if information and nodes that can be addressed at the same time
