Power Steering is gone again, I'm desesperated

Featured Replies

Hello,

My power steering is gone again (replaced the pump 6 months ago).

First only the sensor stopped working and now the pump also doesnt start.

I have this error:

00816 - Power Steering Sensor (G250)
30-00 - Open or Short to Plus

Replaced wiring from the pump to the sensor without results...

This was when the pump was still working:

And now:

Readings when starting the car:

Please someone help me!

Just replaced the pump 6 months ago!

Thank you!

Sorry for posting here but it's an Ibiza 6J 2008 but since they share the same platform and I couldn't find any help at SEAT forum I asked here.

Have you checked the fuse (strip fuse in compartment above battery)?

Have you checked the fuse (strip fuse in compartment above battery)?

The fuse is OK at least doesn't have any visible damage...

Since it has voltage on terminal 15 and 30, the fuse must be OK, rigth?

At first only the sensor was gone, and when I started the car a few times in a row to see if I could solve the sensor problem the pump also stopped working :(

Now it doesn't work at all, I even made a trip 10KM so the battery could be charged, because I was afraid that I discharged the battery when starting the car but without results.

The fuse I'm thinking of (the strip fuse) would only affect terminal 30 reading iff that was being sensed at the PAS module, rather than somewhere more central.  I'm not sure where VCDS is getting those measurements from. It ought to be locally, at the module under scrutiny, but I wouldn't be sure.  Easy way to check the fuse electrically, measure the voltage at both ends of it with a multimeter.

Just changed the battery today without results.

Could the sensor alone make the pump not to start?

Fist the sensor went off but the pump still started with steering a little more heavy.

Now the pump doesnt start and the steering is very very very heavy, almost can't drive the car...

Does your steering pump have that component in the rigth? Mine doesn't.

The pump shakes a bit, looks like it's loose (broken support?).
Could this cause the pump to fail prematurely?
