Using old VCDS on Fabia mk3

Featured Replies

Hi all, I need to use my VCDS on a Fabia MK3 soon. Now my VCDS works ok on my Octy FL so assuming as its CANBUS ready it should be ok. Is that right?

What version is it? Mine is auto updated so probably has fabia mk3 in it already. I know it has the Octavia 100%

Can't remember but my laptop for diags is XP only so I've not been able to update it for a while. It works with CAN and I've used it on a 2013 YETI not long ago with no issues.

Should be OK then, but there might be at least some translations missing. My advice would anyway be to update VCDS to the latest version to make sure.

Being CAN you should be fine but have found that to access the useful long coding helper you have to install and use the Beta version of VCDS.

Update it to use the latest Beta software and you should be fine, otherwise when the car is newer than the software there will be certain parts of the software that will not recognise the controllers fully.
