vibration threw steering wheel under heavy braking

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Got a new issue with my vrs, I'm getting a lot of vibration / wiggling under heavy braking, changed the front disks and pads witch resolved it for a while BUT now it's back!!

Concerned that my new disks have been warped someho?!?

It's really bad under hard/moderate braking from high speed but not realy noticeable at low speeds.

The rear disks and pads need changing as they are well passed there best, don't think it's really relevant to my issue.

It's just one thing after another with this car lol thankfully I love it!!

Any input would be appreciated

Thanks Mark

Sounds like front discs are warped, if they're not that old it could be they weren't bed in satisfactory when fitted. Or the hubs weren't cleaned up satisfactory when fitted.

Sound thanks mate, Im going to take them off and fit them again, realy doing my head in, they are only months old, was thinking maby a sticky calliper is causing the disk to warp, the reason I changed them in the first place was because of the same thing!?!?

it never ends with this car lol

Hi Mark.  Out-of-balance front wheels can give similar symptoms.

Swap your wheels front-to-rear to see if it makes any difference.  Good luck!

Out of balance wheels will be all the time at certain speeds not under braking. Vibration under braking is a problem with warped discs or insufficient cleaning of the hubs before fitting.

Thanks boys, going to get it up on the stands tomorrow and swap wheels about and refit the disks, hope it fixes it, can't be spending £100+ again, it's only been 3 months since I fitted tthem!

if you haven't started yet try measuring the runout before removing the discs  gives some idea and then refit with correct runout  if you've had to clean up

Don't really no what "runout" is? Lol
