Aftermarket head unit for mk1 fabia vrs SE

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

I've just purchased a fabia Vrs SE and one of my first jobs is to change the head unit, the multi changer doesn't appear to be working so not fussed about that side of things

I need bluetooth capability too as I use the car for work and this would really help.

I've seen the Alpine UTE-72BT for sale at Halfords for £70 which looks reasonable. It has no Cd but I think I can live with that as I use Google play to download music these days

Has anyone used one of these head units?

Also, is the fabia facia replacement still available at Skoda or will the Halfords one do? ( I've heard its crap)

Cheers

Yep the facia adapter is still available from skoda steer well clear of the halfords one. I fitted a double din did to my se when I had it. Best thing I did. Any main brand hu will be an improvement on std. You will also need an aerial signal booster as aftermarket hu don't have them built in. And I can't fully remember you may need a wiring harness adapter also

Thank you

How does the aeriel signal booster work ? Is it difficult to hook up?

Goes inline between aerial and socket on radio then needs power off the remote lead on the head unit usually the blue wire

Thanks, sorry to be a pain but how do I connect the 2 wires, does it need to be soldered?

For the best connection yes. But I'd just use a scotchloc there probably the easiest for connecting inline on that wire
