Advice needed - ref DPF and DMF

Featured Replies

Hi, any advice greatly appreciated.

I have a Fabia Scout 2013 which I bought from new.

Currently has about 20,000 miles on it, two services by the main dealer under the warranty conditions etc.

My circumstances have changed recently, I have retires, and therefore do not use the car for extented driving, it has become moreshort journey type usage - less than 5 miles alot of the time.

Its the 1.6 105ps diesel engine and I've had no problems, mpg on the motorway has been very good.

However, I am considering selling as with the change in driving habits I don't want the issues surrounding any Diesel Particulate Filter blocking, or the Dual mass flywheel causing expensive repairs.

Should I be concerned?

Annual mileage is now likely to drop to 5,000 miles per year, but its the short journeys that are causing my concerns.\\

Welcome to the forum.

In my opinion, just enjoy your car.

Buying from new you know the car and how you have looked after it, and it has cost lots from new until now.

It will cost much more to change to a New or Slightly used petrol car than to just Service and look after your car,

and if you feel like it go a longer run with the money you never wasted changing cars.

cheers, yes I like the car, I suppose I could just go on the motorway somewhere.

I do alot of mountain biking now, so going up to Mid Wales for a day out wouldn't be like a chore.

20 or 30 miles once in a while will be more than enough.

Enjoy your retirement, and hopefully this forum as well.
