Squeaking / Rattling noise from dash

Featured Replies

Morning all,

I've been getting a really irritating noise from the dash (seemingly about half way to the windscreen from the centre console). The sound can best be described as pieces of expanded polystyrene being rubbed together! It seems to be more prevailant with the aircon on and I can get the noise to subside if I push down hard on the dash where the noise is coming from.

Has anyone else had this noise? I presume it's a small gap in there with plastic surfaces rubbing together, but I've no idea how to get the dash cover off so I could do something like silicone spray in there (if that's what the problem is).

Any help is much appreciated, ta.

Have a search around for 'centre vent noise' its quite common.

Cheers, found a few threads and a how2 - I'll give it a go later.

Given up on attempting to sort all my rattles out...... think I've sorted one and another one seems to appear.

There's bits of foam and silicone spray every where and the bloomin thing still sounds like its going to fall to pieces every time I drive on a road surface that isn't as smooth as silk

does the dash squeak disappear if you push down on the centre about 6 inches back from the windscreen?

Mine did. Rammed some high density foam in by the steel bracket on the bulkhead and it's never come back.

Done - so far so good! :)

Cheers for the help.
