Octavia 1.6 FSI

Featured Replies

Today I crashed my 06 Octavia Elegance FSI and wrote it off.    I got hit on the side by a truck and pushed along the road by it before flying to the outside of the road and hitting the metal barrier.  After the collision and whilst talking to the insurance company they asked if the airbags went off, suddenly I thought no, they didn't.  So my question is, should they have? bearing in mind I didn't hit the front of the car too hard, wrecked the driver side, and flew backward into the barrier smashing the back end in (I have photos if you would like to see).

It depence how hard you hit the barrier if it light tuch the airbags won't blow

If you hit the barrier backwards then there would be no point in the airbags in the dash deploying.

As far as I am aware Airbags are deployed in frontal and near frontal impact.

Someone will correct me I suppose
