Advice with bumper.

Featured Replies

So I have owned my Octavia for about a month now. Its in great condition but the one thing that bugs me is my front bumper does not sit flush with the wings.

I pulled out the sides of the bumper today and noticed there is a grooved section were the bumper sticks out. It looks like it is guide rails for some sort of bracket, but I have no brackets on the wing of the car.

Does anyone know if there is supposed to be something there that has been removed? I have included pics to better illustrate what i am trying to say.

Cheers.

Yes mate there should be a rectangular brass coloured plate with rounded ends which fits in the recess you can see under the black trim. There should then be 2 holes in it to accommodate 2 bolts (not sure dimension, quite short m8 or maybe m10) which screw into the cars frame and pull the bumper in and straight. Strange thing is you don't even appear to have 2 holes there let alone a plate for the bolts...Have a look with the bumper off for the threaded holes for the bolts behind there. In that area under the rear of the headlight there should also be a toothed peg that goes into a slot just to help that fixing do its job. Hope that helps?

Ultimately what you'd need to do is drill the bumper, source some bolts and the plates they sit on. Seems very odd that the plate nor the holes are there though...
