Superb II Estate/Combi - replacing centre brake light

Featured Replies

The rear centre brake light has stopped working on my Superb Estate.  Any idea how to replace?

There's no sign of any fixings on the exterior and attempts to prise it out quickly start cracking the cover.  From Octavia, threads, it looks like you have to remove the interior trim on the upper half of the tailgate.  So how do you do that?

Or is this one for a dealer?

Remove the (torx IIRC) screw(s) in the lower half of the tailgate trim than give it a good pull to remove the lower trim, the upper trim can then be removed in the same fashion

This walkthrough is for a Yeti... but it’s a pretty similar process.

That's a great walkthrough and has convinced me that I don't want to do this myself.

It gets worse.  Seems to be an intermittent fault - yesterday was fine agan; today the bulb warning light comes on as soon as I hit the brakes.  I've checked in shiny building and the warning light is correct.
