Electrics gone crasy

Featured Replies

I had the ABS unit repaired by the dealer for the common brake distribution pressure fault (Skoda did it for free as its a known fault).

Ever since then (which may be a coincidence) I have noticed a few weird goings on: -

First the wing mirror heater stopped working. Then randomly when reversing the mirror would dip to a different position and return to a high position (Skywards) when driving forwards.

the wing mirror control now works in reverse. L = R, R =L. Up and down movement is normal.

Then the wing mirror lights stopped working Both the indicator part and the courtesy lights.

Today things got even weirder.

The drivers window started to work in reverse and the two rear door windows don't work on either the door switch or the master switches on the drivers door.

No lights on the mirror position sensor and door window switches.

No front door courtesy lights (red/White)

No alarm beep from the horn when locking the car.

Car is a 07 L&K.

So back to the dealer to see what is going on. Hopefully the Skoda warranty will cover this?

Probably a coincidence. The fault nay well lie with the controller in the drivers door, or the wiring to it.

A dead or dying battery can cause all manner of strange electrical faults on these cars - worth checking.  You mention a Skoda warranty.  If it's a used approved car under warranty then you shoould definitely be getting the dealer to look into this for you.

That's what you would hope for. I was chuffed to buy a car of that age with a proper main dealer warranty.

In reality they tuck you up for £65 diagnostic charge.

Whatever they find won't be covered. I know, not bitter :swear:.

Find a better dealer!  Never had an issue with any of our Skodas under warranty, including the approved used warranty.

For the past 4 years I have always taken out the Skoda extended warranty. Two rear wheel bearings/ABS sensors. A new Turbo and a few odd switches later I'm still in proffit. I have had the battery checked the weekend. It was replaced a couple of years ago after the original one died.

Well it went in to the dealer and they say the coding has changed and not for the car! yet I have not changed or programmed anything! The battery tested out as A OK.

When it came back i found things had got even weirder. Now the front windows randomly open by themselves yet the alarm does not go off (unless you put your hand inside the window). I even put the keys on the table just in case they were accidentally pressed. Now both front windows work in reverse.

So whilst I'm waiting for Skoda to provide the right code I have had to take out the front window fuses to stop the interior getting wet. Then the Citigo decides to have an airbag fault! its not a good few weeks as my phone decided it would not connect to the internet after the latest upgrade.
