Not a Skoda (Gasp, shock, horror!) Fitting an amp

Featured Replies

Yeah, I know, not a Skoda, but Skoda people rock!

Ok, so have a new head unit in Lil' Blue (she actually came with the original tape-player still installed!), I can't see an amp trigger, or electric aerial trigger. I do have a switched live though (yes, such technology existed 21 years ago!). Is this too much to use to trigger the amp?

Also, do the amp and sub need to be close together?

Thanks :) :)

I'm not sure about the electrics side but for spacing - components can be spread apart at any length. You just have to consider cable runs and possible noise which could be picked up along those runs. It's best to keep speaker or RCA cable runs away from power feeds.

Mostly amps are installed in the boot but if it is a digital amp (class D) they can be installed under seats or in enclosed spaces due to being smaller and running cooler than class A/B types. For class A/B you need to consider air flow to remove heat build up.
