Lucky, or Unlucky?

Featured Replies

After months of fiddling around, I finally rebuilt my "good" PC, top-of-the-range cpu, top-of-the-mid-range gfx, bigger, faster RAM, and a SSD.

Friday night I networked it to my "internet" PC and hooked up a new NAS box; Saturday morning the "internet" pc started dying, throwing off SATA errors and "losing" drives. By Saturday evening it was nearly dead, you could access the BIOS, but that was it.

So, am I lucky the rebuild was ready, or unlucky because I spent from Saturday until this evening shuffling HDDs to get at all my files??

I am well over budget this month, NAS box and drives, the new RAM, plus a new phone and new car head unit enroute; and now a new mobo and cpu to rebuiold my internet box. Anyone want to buy a kidney??

Perhaps the internet PC is having a hissy fit because you have finished the new PC.   :D

I know how you feel GG, there is much I want to spend money on.....redecorating exterior of the house, new garage with automatic door, CCTV system for home security, but it all comes at a cost.

Integrate all that with family birthdays and Christmases and other 'unforeseen' drains on my financial resources, and it will be about 10 years before I can let out that all important sigh of relief.   :D

Yeah, I just mentioned the toys; we have also bought a new 8x6 shed and a 9x17 garage, plus celotex panels and gubbinns to line then out.

Somehow I also need to find the money to pay for an apartment for our skiing holiday before the best apartments are all booked up.
