Fabia 1.4MPI Alternator light.

Featured Replies

Hello there ! First post here, got an '01 Fabia 1.4 8v, this afternoon, with a autometon beep, the alternator light came on, i've checked the belt, and thats fine, was going to put a meter across the alternator itself to check it was charging...

Has anyone got a list of what will set the light off ? ( fault codes ? )

and where is the diagnostic port for the ECU located ?

thanks v. much.... :)

hope to have this sorted ASAP, as its needed to transport a 3 month old baby about, why do they always go wrong when it couldn't be more inconvinient !!! :thumbdwn:

If you have access to a laptop you could buy a cheap diagnostic/VAG-COM interface cable and use the shareware version of VAG-COM diagnostic software.

The alternator light will only come on if the alternator isnt charging for some reason.

Check you charge rate and also the three plugs in front of the gearbox as they sometimes corrode out and cause charging isuses.

Search for VAG COM for you fault code needs.
