Instant On SFF PC's

Featured Replies

Has anyone got a pc with Instant On?

I'm going to be building a sff media center soon, has anyone got any recommendations or ones to avoid, its got to have instant on unless someone has an alternative that doesnt invole soldering the board.

Cheers

What about hibernation? Pretty quick resuming and I've a friend who's been experimenting with MCE and it's pretty nifty :D

you need suspend to ram

dont use suspend to disk as thats slow

the only problem is, i like the look of the media center small form pcs, the cool lcd display and volume **** etc but the best ones out are not as good as the normal sff pc's. I dont think my daughter will care about speed etc but for a five year old the visual impact means a lot more than processor speed.

I have three contenders for the pc,

the first is the brand new Biostar iDEQ 350G based on the new 945g chipset, as far as upgrade-ability goes this is the choice

The second is the lesser iDEQ 300G MCE-I on the lesser 915 set, still a good pc and has volume buttons etc as you'd expect from a mc, this is mid range. Not as upgradable as the first and not as cool as the third, compromise.

The third is the mega pc 865 pro, graphic equalizer, cool buttons, for all intensive purposes it looks like a stereo. However its the worst pc of the bunch but when it comes to style this one looks better than the others.

Answers on a postcard please, which one would my five year old daughter like for christmas.
