Mk1 Octavia vRS owner, saying hi from Middlesbrough.

Featured Replies

Hi all!

I'm a week into ownership of my Octavia vRS and so far, I'm loving it! It's a bit different to my previous rides, I've just sold what was my sixth Mercedes 190E, a 2.6 straight six with factory sport chassis pack, which was a bit of a weapon. But so far so good with the Octy. Getting a steady 40 mpg is a nice change already...

I'm no stranger to Octavias really. I did quite a few years on the taxis in Middlesbrough, driving a mixed bag including a mk1 '03 Sdi , a mk1 '08 Tdi and a rather nice mk2 '05 2.0 Tdi (which eventually gained a set of leather seats, a factory CD/sat-nav system and a set of Passat highline rims).

So when little 'un number 1 came along and the Mrs had to give up her Ibiza sport, it had to be an Octavia that replaced it. A smart looking 1.6 8v Classic in dynamic blue with air con, 15" Skoda alloys, side bump strips and vRS rear spoiler, so didn't look too pov-spec! After a trouble free 3 years, it was traded in for a Ford C Max.

Mistake, seeing as we now had a supposedly bigger so called miulti purpose vehicle that was less roomy and less practical than the Octavia. Erm...

The vRS is a model I've always wanted to try, and when one came up locally with sensible miles in nice condition and with a shedload of recent work including a cambelt and water pump change, I thought 'what the hell'.

Cheers all, going to have an explore on here now.
