Factory closed holidays

Featured Replies

No idea where to put this thread...

Skoda factory were closed for holidays from July 27th till mid August! I was waiting for my car this week but my dealer just told me that so I'll have to wait longer... Shouldn't the dealer knows about this in advance? He created some expectations on me and couldn't deliver. I'm really upset right now

I never though big factorys closed for holidays. It doesn't seem a good way to work...

Last year when they closed the New Lines were built for starting production of the All new Fabia.

The Factory Holiday Closure is built into the Ordering System, and if you are given a 'Build Week'

that obviously is not when vehicles are not being built.

The Dealer might well know, the Dealership Employee you dealt with might not have a clue.

Ask the Dealer Principal about your Order and Delivery and what you were told.

You'd be surprised, I work for JCB and we shut down for 3 weeks in the summer, no machines get built then.

Most employees have their holidays then too.

Its a chance for most of the yearly maintenance to happen so I would guess that's what Skoda do.

A lot of factories still have a summer shutdown.

I believe holiday at the rest of the year is nigh impossible in such companies, which can be a pain for anyone who doesn't wish to holiday in the summer

The company I work for has a plant in the Czech Republic.

It also shuts down for 2 weeks of the year every August.

We don't pick up Jaguar's from Castle Brom for three weeks during the summer. Not sure if they stop production or just the distribution side of things. I should ask really :p

Land Rover out of Halewood remains open during the same period though.

Done work on quite a few sites where they have 1 or 2 week shutdowns, normally for fairly major maintenance work.  Most people are off and the maintenance guys spend two weeks running around like loons then take their leave once everything is running again.

JCB near me have quite s few factory shutdowns too.

Theyve only just finished a 3 week one

I use to like the factory shutdown system for holidays.

As everyone is taking their holiday at the same time, you get a real buzz about the place as the shutdown approaches.

Everyone starts talking where they are going. It feels a bit like when you were at school when the summer holidays were coming :(
