1.4 68hp loosing oil

Featured Replies

Hi guys, my dad's fabia after washing the engine, we noticed a lot of oil coming out from one of the pulleys section. Quite badly. Any suggestions as to what needs replacing? It is not the gasket.

Also, is there a chance the chain driving the cams need replacing? Car has done 120k miles

Sounds like the crank pulley oil seal. Mine was leaking quite badly when I got my Fabia so I changed it. The timing chain will be pretty tired at that mileage too. They are known for rattling at pretty low mileages on this engine but I've never heard of one snapping.

The part number for the oil seal is 047103085

Hope the pic is showing. Anyone knows the part name or part number of the highlighted?

Ideally I would want to replace it with silicon hose

It shouldn't lose oil through that pipe though...there should be only vapours from the crankshaft. If you start the engine without the oil cap on and you rev it, does it spit a significant amount of oil drops through there? If so, I'd say that your throttle body might be pretty clogged so you should at least check it.

Not there anymore. It is just that the pipe has split and needs replacing
