Hi, Fabia Pros & Cons, & problems

Featured Replies

Hi,

I found the site when browsing for info on Fabia heater problems - I know now I am not alone.

This site is a good - I'm impessed with the content.

For the last 9 months I have been driving a 53 reg Fabia 1.9Tdi Elegance estate, fitted with a Dragon tuning unit. The usual heater control problems were there from the beginning, & Williams Skoda in Bristol acknowledged the problem and replaced the flap and control motor, but now the colder weather is here, its back to randomly blowing max hot or full cold. Is there a permanent cure? - is it feasible to revert to normal heater without the climate control?

Overall, I am still impessed with the car, bought as an alternative to a larger hatchback. The same space in the back as a Mondeo hatch, but cheaper, much more economical, and quicker with the chip.

A few other comments. In the last two weeks, there have been several mornings when the power has been right down (no boost?). Turning off the engine & restarting has so far been an instant fix. When running normally, the lack of performance below 1850rpm is disappointing, but above that it really does go well. It's the complete opposite to my wife's Punto 1.9 TD, which pulls brilliantly from 1000rpm, but does nothing over 2500.

Any comments welcome

Rob

Right problem 1

Heater temp flap motor - should imagine it needs setting up using diag equipment

Problem 2

Something is causing an overboost fault (maybe the tuning box) which is why when you flick the key off it resets. The lack of performance may well also be attributed to this, but to be honest it can take a bit to get the PD turbo going so I wouldnt expect to much below 1850 rpm anyhow.
