My CD player keeps coming on

Featured Replies

Hi chaps & ladies,

my 57 Octavia is beginning to get a bit dodgy as she starts getting a bit old.  The current problem is the radio/CD, turns on randomly when the car is off.  I mean off: doors locked, key on the table in the hall, me asleep in bed, etc.  According to my wife (I'm away just now, so can't confirm this), it comes on at "full blast", I think this is because she listens to it at "full blast", & doesn't turn it down before she gets home, but anyhoo....

Any suggestions?

Odd really: the units mainly had an "turn on volume" to prevent you getting back in the car and going deaf because you were listening to The Archers at full volume when you got home.

What head unit have you got? (Stream / Stream mp3 / etc etc)

Probaby worth getting the car scanned for any other errors too, as this could be a symptom of something else.

Unless the radio has a faulty power button, the switch on/off is done by canbus signalling that the ignition is on, so maybe there is an underlying issue with the ignition switch.

Does the radio still come on if you purposely make sure it is switched off before turning off the engine.
