Transcend in car camera

Featured Replies

I bought a Transcend Drivepro 220 on the strength of good reviews but have yet to fit it to my Yeti. I have a BlackVue DR400 in my Fabia but am unimpressed with its picture quality and sound.

I'm confused.

You bought a cheap Transcend DVR off of Fleabay, or you bought a cheap DVR off of Fleabay and are now looking at a Transcend DVR ??

Sorry bought a cheap DVR and am now looking at transcend. Even looking at the 220 now as it has parking mode. My car got keyed a couple of weeks ago and a camera in the car just seems a good idea. Also while driving along a dual carriage way yesterday a lorry decided to cross the road in front of me. Had to brake very hard and some swearing words did come out. Just would feel better with another witness in the car one that can record. Fed up of buying cheap, just need to bite the bullet and get something decent.

I've got the DrivePro 200, gets good review on Techmoan and Auto Express. Hasn't got parking mode as per new 220, but works well driving day or night. Only thing I've done is put black tape over the chrome ring on the front of the cam, as it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Did read that the chrome ring sticks out. There's a 10% flash sale today at 12 on Halfords so the 220 camera will be about £117. So tempted ! May just get it as I can always take it back if I need to.

You can get the 220 on ebay for £98.88 delivered from Bulgaria. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151803116257 Seller has 100% feedback and as it's coming from EU you'll not get stung for customs charges. Just a thought....

Sounds stupid but I'd rather pay the little bit more as if stuff goes wrong can go straight back to Halfords as its only a 5 minute drive. I've never had luck ordering from other countries.

It's the one I'm thinking of getting when I get some spare cash.

Doesnt always work like that, I had something shipped from Amsterdam that got clobbered with duty due to some EU regulation; I suspect the seller was trans-shipping through the port and I got stuck paying his import duty.

OK, I understand now - I thought that was what you meant, but thought I should check.

Ré the keying; it probably wouldnt have been picked up unless the keyer was clumsy, the DVRs need a bit of movement to set them off. Also, as every passing car makes your car move, if you set the DVR on anything other than low sensitivity, when you get back you find the flash drive has been filled by "events"

BTW, I was lucky enough to come across the POS just as he started to key my car, I couldnt PROVE it was him, but there was no other reason for him to be loitering at the back of my car, and no reason for him to look guilty and leg it either; the little $!*t  was going for it as well, not just a surface scratch, he had gouged deep into the metal.

Sounds like you had bad luck there, I've only ever been unfortunate with stuff shipped from the US thankfully!

Ordered a drive pro 220 as until 2 today there's 10% off in Halfords. £117 it came to. Loads of good reviews about it and can't wait to get it fitted got everything ready to hardwire it.

I have the Transcend 200 installed as my rear camera. Thoroughly recommend it. Only real negatives; it doesn't record unless ignition on, and no GPS. I have a Roadhawk DC2 fitted to the front which does have GPS and records all the time. I think the Transcend gives better and wider images.

I've submitted images on the Driver Recorder In Car Video thingymabob section using both cameras.

I think the difference between the 220 and the 200 is the battery, so hopefully will record with ignition off :) eBay one was terrible. Complete waste of money. Picking my camera up from Halfords on Saturday il upload some videos in the week.
