Hi can antone recommend an ipod friendly head unit for a 2000 x plate octavia?

Depends how well you want to integrate your iPod, and what your budget is...

If you just want to use an aux-in on a head unit (and connect the iPod using its headphone socket), you can get a cheap head unit for about £30 that will do this. The more you pay, generally the higher quality head unit you get - the £30 offerings won't be great.

If you want full integration with your iPod (so the head unit charges it and everything), you might as well get a proper iPod adapter and a headunit for it...the Car Audio Centre have all this gear, and here they have complete packages from £150: http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/category.asp?category=550

So you'd get a headunit and the proper adapter for that.
