Do snails eat wax !

Featured Replies

As the title says, do snails eat wax ? Last weekend I spent the total of 10 hours cleaning the paintwork on my fabia vrs. Washed with meguirs shampoo, application/ removal of Farecla G3 to remove all hologramming, application/removal of Poorboys Blackhole, followed by Natty's wax. Really, really pleased with all the graft I've put in. But what's this ? Every morning there's these bizarre trails all over the car spoiling my beading. Yesterday  I found the culprit cruising along my super smooth paintwork. Has anyone else had this problem ? Are they munching all my wax away ? Do I re-apply the wax ? Thoughts anyone.

I found one of the little blighted sticking to my door mirror...... Perhaps they were waiting for me to turn on the heat!

hahaha - must admit we have had a couple of snails attack SWMBO's car!!!

So far - we have never had one on my car...... thank goodness. :giggle:

I just followed the usual wash routine and the snail trails were gone no problem.

Nowhere near as annoying as the spider living in the wing mirror on her car though! :swear:

Never had a snail on the car before. I usually get the spider in the wing mirror though. Can be there for weeks sometimes.

The motorhome is a nightmare for this. They love it with the bike rack on the back, roof rack, big sticky out wing mirrors, side awning and load of other places to spin webs across. Washed it last week and there were dozens of spiders crawling out from everywhere... yuk!

No, but they do leave an excretion anyplace they go, and find smooth surfaces easier to travel over...

Got snails and spiders all over my Land rover!

Took loads of bushes away in it the other week and they must have been hiding in them. Every time I get in I get a head full of cobwebs.

Is your car "Green" he/she may just like the silky finish you gave and decided it made a good ice rink ;)

This thread is moving too fast :D

^^^^:)

This could be good:

But be careful..I've heard it can leave buffing trails!!! :giggle:

Some interesting and funny replies there :D  It looks like they like smooth surfaces so it must be a testament to all my hard work, leaving the ideal finish for my little shelled friend to glide across ! I shell inspect my paintwork this weekend after a good wash with megs again.

No but i'm sure the french would give it a try

He looks like he's been having loads of fun on his own private track he probably wasn't best impressed when the owner decided to nip down to the shops though.

I was wondering how Steve allowed the alloys to get this bad (Inside)

I guess its used too much to get the alloys properly cleaned

Poor snail was always on a loser ...LOL

You could attach some sort of makeshift cleaning mop/cloth thingie to his shell and let him self clean.

Wash them with this:
