AutoBrite snow foam lance serviced - what a difference

Featured Replies

My AB lance is over three years old now. It's been working well until a month ago, when the range dropped of, and the top mixture control didn't make a great deal of difference. i found a thread on DW from Mark at AB giving the steps to strip it right down and check it over, but it's an old thread & the photos are no longer there! http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=84349 I did find a video and some other threads later, but had figured out what needed doing by then. It took a lot longer than the 10 minutes Mark suggested, but quite a few of the screw threads had got themselves very firmly fixed!

The little mesh cylinder inside was a little gummed up, easily sorted by leaving it in some acid cleaner for a while, but I think the main culprit was a slight blockage in the feed from the bottle to the central brass connector. The hole there is less than 1mm across, so easy to obstruct. All reassembled with PTFE tape on all the threads and back into action. Now anything over a quarter turn from the - mark resulted in the Yeti looking like a meringue!  I got carried away and ended up using nearly the full bottle on just one side - oops :)

The speckled effect you can see in the photo is down to BSD - applied three weeks ago.

Nice job Martin - servicing the foam lance is worth doing every 2/3 years.

You can now buy replacement gauze/mesh inserts as well - if required.

From the pics - the foam meringue look is working to full effect!!!   ;)
