Factory fit towbar

Featured Replies

Hi all

Do we know for sure if the above comes with -

13 pin electrics

Full fridge cooing capabity

ATC trailer control gubbins

Diagram on display of car and van as per properly married unit

Indicator beepers

Also, is it still Westfalia they use?

Thanks

Not sure about the other points but I thought the brochure states it's 7 pin.

I doubt it will have indicator beepers either. The method employed is to assimilate the trailer's lighting into the car's and show any bulb failures in the same way it does for the car (ie message on the dashboard).

I have the factory fitted towbar. As weasley suggests there is no additional beepers when using turn indicators. If there is a faullt with caravan lights it shows up on the dashboard. There is an image on the screen of the car/caravan connected.

The electrical systen uses a 13 pin connector which does power the ATC on the van but it does not power the fridge or charge up the leisure battery in the van. You need extra wiring fitted after delivery for this and it can be expensive to get it done properly. I have not really missed the dual charging facility to be honest.

The answer given by rkenny is correct. Yes it will be a Westphalia.

It is now an EU requirement that if towing electrics are fitted at the factory then they have to be 13 pin. You may find that they have included an adapter for 13 to 7 pin.

The use of the "bulb failure system" to show the trailer flashers aren't working is totally legal, and personally I think a much better system. Don't forget that the alarm system is also extended to the trailer being unplugged.

Do we know for sure if the above comes with -

1.13 pin electrics

2.Full fridge cooing capabity

3. ATC trailer control gubbins

4.Diagram on display of car and van as per properly married unit

Indicator beepers

5.Also, is it still Westfalia they use?

1. Yes

2.No

3.Yes (Edited after reading rkenny's reply)

4.Yes

5.Yes

In addition the alarm is extended to the trailer so if someone tries to or succeeds in unhitching the trailer the alarm goes off.

At least that's how mine works.

Likewise to rkenny I never missed the lack of the facility for split charging to cool the fridge. Many will say otherwise but my opinion is unless you are going to a high temperate region, then pre-cooling by running the van on the mains for 24 hours before a trip and carrying freezer blocks in the freezer compartment has always served me well.
