Really confused over these bluetooth modules

Featured Replies

Hi guys

Im really struggling to get my head round these bluetooth modules and kits

I have a octavia vrs manual with a columbus HU

Being a manual it have no MFSW.

Does this mean i cant add an OEM bluetooth kit?

It has a nokia ck200 car kitted fitted atm but its awful and doesnt look as clean as id like.

You should be able to fit a OEM bluetooth kit.

Firstly, have you checked to see how the ck200 has been wired in? Hopefully it's a car specific adaptor than can be easily removed but there is always a chance that someone has cut wiring so I'd definitely check before ordering anything. There might be a switched live to the ck200 but that should be easy to trace and remove as it's probably a piggyback fuse.

You've not mentioned if your car has maxidot so I'll assume it doesn't. In which case I think the general advice is to go with either the 7P6 035 730 J (or above) or 5K0 035 730 D. These are controlled by your headunit and don't need maxidot to allow you to pair your phone.

If you do have maxidot then your best bet is a 3C8 035 730 D or E for the most functionality.

Your car will probably need coding via VCDS or similar afterwards to make sure the bluetooth module is installed properly.
