Anyone help airbag light suddenly came on with the message on dash any ideas on what might have caused this without having to use diagnostics cheers

Nope, plug it in, pin point fault and diagnose, much easier

Check connections under seats first.  They get knocked by items being put under the seats, and sometimes violent sudden seat adjustments can dislodge them.   Will still need light clearing with VCDS or similar though - even after problem found.

 

PS: if you're free around noon tomorrow, I am flying in to Newcastle with full VCDS - I'll be somewhere in the Geordie-area between 11.30and about 12.00 noon.
