Seat leon 1.4tsi ACT 150 FR

Thinking of changing my car for a 1.4 SC FR (with the tech Pack)

Yeah do it

Go for it, we have got the same but the ST version, impressed so far. Don't believe the quoted MPG figures though as they are optimistic. The combined cycle is supposed to be 60mpg, we get 44-45 ish, I think that is the same with most manufactures figures though.

Thanks I see you went for the 18" alloys, I am sticking with the standard 17s so hopefully will be getting closer to 50 mpg I currently get in my 1.2 TSI

I put 16" winter wheels on it a few weeks ago and it has made the car about 2mpg more economical. If you are doing long runs you will easily beat 50mpg.

Got one in august with the tech pack and titanium pack (fancy wingmirrors and diamond cut 18" wheels) good little car!

Went to edinburgh and back(from swindon) in august managed about 50mpg sat at 75ish.

Swindon to amesbury daily commute on twisty A roads average lows 40's.

The active cylinder is a bit hit and miss as it only really kicks in when you want to change up to the next gear and if your on a dead level road or slight decline.

The best way I have found to get the ACT working is too ignore the gear change indicator, it asks you to change up so early that the ACT won't kick in, especially when the engine is cold.

If you try being a gear lower than the gear change indicator recommends, ACT kicks in a lot more.

There is a 3 mile straight flatish road near me on my daily commute, cruise control on, 60mph in 6th, ACT won't kick in, do the same in 5th, ACT is on for the full 3 mile stretch, it is a fickle beast.

Also if you keep the revs above 2k and the engine is warm, you can accelerate from say 30-60mph on 2 cylinders, but it's not easy.

Might sound silly..

Does running it on 2 cylinders have a massive difference on economy at that given time?

Like, if you watch the instant MPG display?
