How do you rate your mods???

Featured Replies

I'm intigued to know how you rate your mods that you have had done on your car?

I'm hoping that you consider value for money in your order of which one made the biggest difference to your car.

e.g.

1. Remap - So much more power and torque

2. Eibachs - Transformed the handling

3. 312mm TT brakes - Better brake feel

4. Milltek - Fantastic sound when pushing on but no noticable power increase

5. Tyres - Pirelli P Zero Nero - Less tyre noise and better grip in wet and dry

6. etc..........

Just curious......

Jabba generic Remap

positive - excellent mod, lots more power and torque (definately noticeable) negative - lots more smoke

Leather Retrim

positive - easy to clean, looks 100% better than standard, oo nice smell

negative - cold bum these winter mornings

17" alloys

positive - look nice sat in the garage corner

negative - still sat in garage corner not on car

Dragon tuning box: postive: 40% increase in power for 10 mins labour, negative: engine has developed the occasional flat spot it didn't have before

vRS alloys- positive: far better feel and traction than standard, negative: much noiser, harsher ride and about 20% less economy than the standard wheels.

MP3/CD Player: positive: get 10 hours of music on a single CD, negative: doesn't blend as well as the stock unit and for some reason radio reception is worse.

PIAA headlamp bulbs: just rubbish . . . in the corner of the garage now

On a scale of 1 to 10?

Er........10:thumbup:

I havnt done too many mods yet, but there will be more

Alpine HU- Has MP3, errm nice screen, sounds good with standard speakers and aftermarket sub. Sounds crap without a sub, had problems to begin with.

Vibe sub- Good for the money paid, quite compact so boot is still there.

Eibach springs- Ride height and handling much better. Front shocks bottom over bumps, at speed (even with trimmed bumpstops). Firmer ride.

17" alloys- Changes look of car for the better. Heavier so less mpg (slightly)

Toyo T1-S 215/40- More grip in dry, less noisy than standard. A bit less grip in the wet, but still plenty there.

Probably about 1200-1300quids worth there. Well spent imo :D

In order of score out of 10

11/10 - Jabba custom remap - some serious time and effort put in to transform my car.

10/10 - Jabba rear ARB - transformed the handling of the car.

9.5/10 - Allard hybrid turbo - seen it spiking at 2.2bar a lot - It has so much to give but the engine can't cope yet. True potential is still not unleashed.

9.5/10 - Cupra intake, scores high on "bang for your buck" :)

9.0/10 - Allard FMIC and pipework. Just damn good. ;)

8.5/10 - Seat sport strut brace - tightens up front end, good value for money.

8.5/10 - Audi TT 312mm brakes - Simply brings outstanding braking to the front. I've only not scored it higher as again, the true power of them is yet to be realised (until I get the brake controller sorted out)

8.0/10 - FK adjustable coilovers - score high on looks and performance. General harsh ride over bumps and holes lets them down a bit - sacrifices must be made. ;)

8.0/10 - Powerflow exhaust mods - only a decat & backbox, but done enough to free up the system and allow a more powerful remap.

7.5/10 - 17" alloys - very VW like, only let down by the apparent ease with which they chip/scratch and generally seem to get dirt to stain to the point of it not being able to come off with any help. Discomfort is obviously a let down with 17s, but looks make up for it.

Thats about it from me. :D

Tinted windows(15 %) - improved loooks pretty much and what is much more important in the summer inside of the car doesn't get as hot as it should be without it

osram silverstar - good value for money, it's very noticeable on country roads and much better solution than xenon HID kits.

10/10 Rubber boot mat

9/10 Cig lighter extension cable ( double)

2/10 312mm brakes

10/10 KW2 Coilovers, the best money can buy IMHO.

TBA/10 250bhp mod. (Mk2)
