Fabia vRS 2004 (54) - Silver

Featured Replies

Hello, I'm a long time lurker on here but I think this may be my first ever post. I'm offering for sale my silver Fabia vRS, which has completed 243,000 miles (yep, It's on the return journey from the moon now...). I bought it in July 2011 at 139k and have added a further 100k in 4.5 years, so as you can imagine it has had a reasonable amount of work done to it during my ownership. It's been a fun car to own and surprisingly practical with the removable rear seats, but these days I need something a bit bigger.

The good points:

  • Interior is largely in very good condition apart from a tear in the driver's seat bolster caused by wear from getting in and out.

  • Cruise control added, which seems to be a pretty common mod.

  • Heated front seats, which seem fairly rare on Fabias.

  • Camshaft and followers replaced early in 2013 at 191k by a standard profile one from Redmans.

  • Cambelt, clutch, DMF and slave cylinder replaced at 191k – all at the same time as the cam.

  • Turbo rebuilt in January 2015 at around 225k after it became a little noisy.

  • Both rear brake calipers replaced in the last two years.

  • Steering rack replaced in April 2015 as the original had begun to leak.

  • New FL wheel in July 2015.

  • All turbo pipes replaced within the last 50k miles.

  • Console bushes and rear beam bushes replaced for last MOT in April 2015.

  • New FR headlight for 2014 MOT.

  • New passenger side window regulator in April 2015.

  • All receipts from my ownership period – including plenty from VRS in Northampton, who have carried out the big jobs for the last few years.

  • Last serviced (oil, filter, air filter) at 240k. New front pads at around 235k.

  • Plenty of tread remaining on all tyres. All Avons. FL new in July 2015.

  • Free set of front brake discs. I bought discs and pads in the Summer, but the discs on the car turned out to be okay.

  • Never been on a track day and never really been thrashed in my ownership – and definitely never when cold. I've always been pretty mechanically sympathetic.

The not so good points:

  • 8000 miles until the next scheduled cambelt change.

  • MOT expires at the end of April.

  • One key only.

  • Limited service history. I bought it with no history at all, so it was given a precautionary cambelt change before I took delivery. I bought a new service book from Skoda, but managed to leave it at home pretty much every time it was serviced.

  • Quite a few stonechips on the front of the body, as can be expected after so many miles, plus a little rust under the FL sill. However there are no dents.

  • Crack in the windscreen on the passenger side, which just extends into the swept area. Passed the last MOT, but may not pass the next as it has grown a little.

  • I have the front undertray, but it isn't attached to the car.

  • Air conditioning not working. I didn't need it last Summer, so didn't do anything about it.

  • When the car is cold there's a slight gearbox whine when you lift off the throttle in 5th gear only, but it clears up when warm. This noise has been present for around 30,000 miles so far and doesn't appear to be getting any worse, so I've been happy to leave it.

  • I bought a front ARB drop link but have yet to fit it, so there's a light clunk on uneven surfaces.

I've already bought another car, so the mileage shouldn't increase.

I appreciate the mileage is very high for a small car, so I'm looking for £1000. I live between Northampton and Wellingborough - thought I'd better add that fairly important bit of info...

Thanks. I put it on Gumtree earlier and I've been inundated with calls, which has really surprised me as I thought the mileage would really put people off. Maybe I should've put it on Ebay instead...

My sills are like your one, stand firm with the price, my timing belt needs changing soon nearly 4 years up. GLWTS.
