Yeti or Octavia

Featured Replies

I currently run a 2012 Yeti Se Plus with 1.2 TSI.  Have now decided it's time to get a car with DSG (and hopefully a little more poke).  Good news about engine upgrades since then, but I am torn between an Octavia SEL with 1.4 TSI and DSG and another Yeti 1.2 TSI with DSG (either SE or SEL).

Can anyone throw any light on my problem?

looks wise I prefer the Octavia all day long, but I know nothing about both cars so my opinion is irrelevant, which is also my opinion!

In July I swapped my 1.2 yeti elegance for an octavia 1.4 SEL. I really loved my yeti but I do a bit more motorway driving now which was not so good for economy on the yeti. The octavia is great. Depends what type of motoring you do really.

Depends what you want from it.

My Octavia estate could swallow a family camping trip with ease (except the suspension).

The Yeti (plus roof box) manages it with four bikes hanging off the back.

Octavia wins on economy and looks, but the Yeti wins on practicality and adaptability.

I wouldn't go back to an Octavia unless my needs change.

Being picky both cars can be fitted with roof boxes and bike racks :-)

Yes. But only one copes with a full load (in my opinion/situation).

My point was that to get the same amount of kit on holiday with a Yeti I needed a roof box as the Yeti's boot is about 30cm shorter.

My second point is that the Yeti's raised and possibly stiffer suspension copes with the load, including a bike rack and four bikes on a towbar, whereas the Octavia was grounding out when fully loaded.

Aha ok, got you. I couldn't fit all our kit in for family trips in the yeti as compared with my previous octavia
