DSG DQ250 (6 speed) issue (maybe not)

Featured Replies

Hi

I have read a lot of topics in that forum concerning dsg issues mostly DSG dq200 (7 speed)

my "problem" is connected with dsg 6 speed with petrol engine...

When I drive on D (not sport and not manual) during braking(both with engine as well as using brake pedal but always slow -like "creep") and probably (not 100% sure but it looks like) during down****ing ,I hear some sound which is not exactly like metal clunk (like pipe to piepe for instance) but more like "move" of smth (let say when you move 2cm of smth heavy to some wall-"dull" sound) ,short(1sec) sound which exists only once during one braking processes (for instance when 5 change to 4 or 4 to 3)

It  exists not always and, not at the same gear combination but always during downishift (upshift works great)

When I brake harder i dont hear anything.

Guys from skoda dealer checked (car lifted) and informed me that sound but more click exists at all gears downshift but it ony hearable close near the tranny and from their perspective its normal clicking when 6 speed tranny reducing gears (clutches work),they also checked tranny fluid level (all dsg service conducted up to skoda requirements) and sent all tranny parameters to skoda main service.

DMF on idle is quiet , no hestitation on any gears (maybe a little when 1/2 but nothing annoying), dashboard displays exact gears, no problems with D/R change, no faults on tranny via vcds

car has 88k miles ODO

any hints or suggestions

Hi Andy - good to see another 3.6 owner on here :)

Has the gearbox been service @40k miles? This will ensure oils and filter are in good nick. As for the metallic 'clicking' I occasionally get that at start up on shifting from P to D or S or R depending. I think it's just the plates warning up as everying kicks into gear (no pun intended) ;). After start off and driving away all good. The DSG runs fabulously on mine - smooth and responsive although it frustrates me at times with how quickly it tries to get into 'D6' almost labouring the engine. I overcome this with paddle use....

Occasionally I get a driveline shunt when changing gears - normally when parked on an incline and selecting D or R from parking. Not noticed much on the road though.

I have 55k mikes on mine (85k Kim's approx) and the gearbox service was carried out just before I purchased the car used.

One thing I will say - I have noticed that an area of 'cost cutting' on the big Skoda is in the use of sound insulation/thinner carpets than some of the supposed 'premier' brands in the VAG group. There is less sound deadening and the equivalent of underlay in the Skoda compared to previous cars Ive owned (I noticed this when running some cabling through to the rear for my daughters iPads and aux connection). Not a bad thing at all but I think you can hear more of the mechanics doing their thing than you might in some other cars and where the big Skoda manages to conserve costs at manufacture.

It's not bad, we find the Superb fantastic on long trips - quiet and refined - but just a thought....

thx for replay

According to service schedule.. yes both 60k km(60k &120k) dsg services had been conducted in authorised dealer...

I asked guys from service dep which drove with me to "hear" that clunk to replicate that sound in garage environment.  Louder clunk during ride took place only once.. when on the lift only clicks when downshifting but definietly not so loud... I am worried about that sound (that louder) mostly because its gear change down related (or some extra torque when gears are changing).. not sure what.. non of the symptoms of

1)DMF failure

2)Clutch failure

3)Mechatronic failure

 suit perfectly to my case...

No jaddering, no hesitation, no idle vibration, no wrong selector position,no click ,jadder etc when changing from R to D and vice versa, Reverse is always where and when it should be, (once or twice i had some "non reaction" when selected R but it was hill and probably autohold kept car longer with braked position) there is only some clunk from time to time when going to stop(engine braking) or slowing down slowly... not always... let say 1 per 10... and clunk loud (i hear it with closed windows and my passengers too from engine bay driver side) only once when slowing down(let say.. car is downshifting from 6 to 2 so for example clunk from 4 to 3 , next time "slowing down" 5-4 .. 0) maybe some engine mounts loose .. hard to say.. no easy to check...

Regarding Drive option .. yes that is crazy when in 200m of economic ride (from stop)I got 6 gear (at 1300 RPM)... its ok for diesel when max Nm is available at 2000 rpm but non turbo petrol.. .some soft uprgade should be available ...and change that...

However when using sport mode or manual.. yes this what I expected from 260HP 6 VR engine and that light body...

and one more thing... DSG basic settings and adaptation has not change anything.
