Hello folks, I'm new to the forum having just bought a 12 plate superb s 140 and wondered if anyone has come across this problem before.

My engine management light is a permanent feature. When I turn the key to "glow plugs on" the needles do their dance and settle back down, at the same time the Christmas tree lights up and goes out bit by bit until just the battery and handbrake warning lights and the engine management are left... I then start up and after checks am left with the handbrake and EML (which has flickered off for a tenth of a second then reappeared). The OBD gives me a code for p0562 engine voltage low ... If I clear the code it doesn't reappear until I next start the car...  I suspect that it may be the first indication that I need a new battery but thought I would check with you guys if it's a known issue first... Yep the battery is is about to die, not surprising given that Skoda are well known for fitting under-spec batteries.

 

Go for a Varta E44, fantastic batteries at good prices, they are the same as the Bosch S5 battery but for less money...

  • Wiring/Connectors from/to Control Module faulty
  • Power Supply (Battery/Generator) faulty

Possible Solutions

  • Check/Repair Wiring/Connectors from/to Control Module
  • Check Power Supply (Battery/Generator)

Special Notes

  • When found in an individual control module, it's most likely a local source (e.g. wiring/connectors).
  • When found in multiple control modules at the same time, it's most likely a common source (e.g. ground spot, battery, generator).
  • Intermittent codes are often stored during low outside temperature when the battery capacity goes down and may be ignored.
  • Common with 00532 - Supply Voltage B+: Signal too Low stored in other control modules.

If only all problems were so easy to cure

 

battery or alternator....2 checks would tell

 

battery --- a drop tester

 

alternator ---- multimeter
