Skoda Fabia 08 TDI or 09 Greeline?

Featured Replies

Hi All!

I'm new here. Sadly, the nicest car I have ever owned - and have only done so for 3 months - has been written off due to the floods. It was a beautiful little Audi A2 and my son and I loved it.

It's tough to replace but I have been looking at the Skoda Fabia 1.4 Estate model. I think I will be able to get his bike in the back instead of ruining my back seats!

I do need some help though... I have found two excellent examples.

One is a 58 reg 1.4 TDI, 1 owner, 65k.

The other is a 59 reg Greenline, 2 owners, 100k.

Both FSH.

I can see the tax on the greenline is £20, the TDI is £30. I can't find any reliable data on the fuel economy.

My budget is £3k tops, which is nearly twice as much as I have ever spent on a car so I want to get it right.

Which would you guys go for? There doesn't seem to be much in it, othe rthan possibly if I run it for 6 years or so, the 58 reg one may be worth more than the 59?

Thanks for any help you can offer - I have to make a decision tonight/in the morning because the car rental place want their car back and it's taken this long to agree something with the insurers!

I've ran a '06 1.4TDI estate for years - with very few issues and I'm on 120k miles now.. Yes you can chuck a bike in there with no problems. Real economy - I get mid-60's mpg average (calculating by fillups, not the dash mpg display!)

Can't comment on the difference between the two cars you mention though- I'd go for the one with lower miles.

I think Tax is being changed - we'll all pay £140 I believe?!

Car tax is being changed but will only affect new purchases from the date of inception. Hence, if you own a low tax rate car, it will remain a low tax rate car.

I'd go for the lower mileage option too.
