Discs and pads for 190 TDICR Elegance (2011) Estate

Featured Replies

I got an advisory from the Skoda dealer for the discs and pads (all of them) at the recent service.

I'm comfortable changing them myself, but it seems there a few different sizes to look at.

Front: 287.8 x 24.6, 312 x 25, or 345 x 30

Rear: 260 x 12, 271.8 x 10, 286 x 12, or 310 x 22

Which of these are the correct fitting for my vehicle?  I assume the 345/310 sizes are for the V6 and aren't a simple upgrade for the other models.

I have a huge choice of brands too: Delphi, Bosch, Drivetec, Brembo, Pagit, Eicher etc.. are there any to be avoided or preferred?

Advice on pads also welcome ...

Thanks, Dave

There is no 190 bhp 2011 Superb. If you have the 170 PS, 2 litre diesel then the correct disks are the 312 front and 286 rear as far as I can remember from when I changed mine. No idea on pads, I got the disks and pads my local motor factor had in stock and they work very well. Also the rear disk caliper carrier takes a M14 sized XZN 12 point driver, which is one size bigger than most of the XZN kits go. Expect the bolt to be seized solid and not have enough room to get at with a breaker bar unless the car is up on a lift :(. I had to run a ratchet strap from my ratchet handle to the towbar to apply enough force to break the bolt loose on one side.

Thanks for the warning about the special driver.  Are the rest of the fastenings all regular hex or torx, or are there other 12 point fasteners in there?

PS Yes it is the 170PS version - memory failure ...

You'll need an open end wrench to stop the pins holding the rear caliper from spinning as you undo them too. It's heading for 6 months since I did this though, so my memory on tool sizes is hazy. I was able to do everything with a standard socket set (Which includes torx and hex bits), a set of spanners and the XZN driver (And a fair bit of brute force and WD40). It's a good idea to visually compare the disks and pads with those already on the car before you leave the shop with them as there seem to be a few disk offset options in the VAG range. I was caught out by this by the rear disks on my Octavia a few years ago. I got the right parts first try when I did the disks on the Superb though.
