Window opening and door locking problems in Octavia Mk3 1.6 diesel estate

Featured Replies

I recently experienced the following problems in a 36 hour period following heavy overnight rain (my car is not under cover and is exposed to the elements). I found the car mid morning with all four windows fully down having parked it up outside the house at 10 pm the previous night. I have no recollection of opening the windows whilst parking up, and do not think that the opening button on the key fob was pressed in the way necessary to open the windows, between parking and finding the car with the windows down. There was quite a lot of water in the interior of the car but I managed to dry the carpets out quite well the same day by running the engine with the heater on full for an hour. Otherwise the car wasn't moved or used. The seats retained quite a lot of moisture and the following day I noticed a lot of condensation on the interior glass surfaces. I unlocked the car with the fob, wiped up the moisture and then found it impossible to lock the car using the key fob. I tried the spare fob, again without success. I pressed the central locking button and the car locked. After carrying out this procedure I was able to lock the car with the fob. I've not had any further problems in the last couple of months but am concerned that there might be a recurrence of either problem. My local Skoda garage has investigated (diagnostics check only as far as I am aware) but could not find a fault. Has anyone else experienced similar problems?

You would be better served if you posted in the Octavia threads

Is it a Mk2/Mk3?

If its a Mk2 and has the MaxiDot you should be able to disable the comfort opening/closing in the settings menu.

On a Mk3 you can do the same within the car settings menu on the infotainment screen.

Ive had a few blips with other VAG cars in the past with this functionality so tend to always turn it off with every new VAG car I get.

Annoyingly if you disable it you can neither comfort open or close the windows....think it'd be handy if you could retain comfort closing IMHO.

YES, my Yeti decided to open the drivers window on a WET night. I carried out the window reset procedure (look in your manual) and it has not happened since.
