Skoda fabia estate.

Featured Replies

Hi,can someone tell me if the seats on the

Estate go completely flat when folded.

Many thanks.

No, not even when you lift forward the rear seat base.

The Peugeot 308 estate has a better rear.

Ah, but the 308 is a Peugeot and they seem not to understand things electrical. Ask me how I know.

That is an awful video and it looks like the 10 year old doing it isn't terribly au fait with the car's finer details.

The OP should really go to a Skoda dealer and have a proper look. Why don't people do that? Do they live their whole lives via someone else's opinions? End of mini-rant.

Rant Alert,

the OP asked 1 question not an opinion.

(If the seat do not fold flat then maybe no visit to the Skoda Dealer, and not everyone is near a Skoda Dealer.

Maybe not even in the country right now etc etc

Watch the video with the sound off, it still shows the rear seat and load area.

Skoda do not really understand thing Technical with Connectivity if truth be told, and they like to charge extra

for things you bought already on the vehicle to be able to function.

They could have decent load carrying in the Estate / Combi, they could do so much, but they win awards anyway and

like to advertise.

'Simply Clever'   simply ordered by VW, keep the build cheap and the RRP's high.

Actually, the rear seats in the estate DO fold flat.  The rear seat squabs fold up against the rear of the front seats and the backrest then folds down so that the seat back is within a degree or so of horizontal.  If you have the optional variable boot floor, the load area is (essentially) flat from the rear tailgate sill to the back of the front seats. If you don't have the variable boot floor there is a 3 - 4" step at the rear seat pivot point between the boot floor and the seat backs.  Hope this clarifies the situation.

John, yes the seats do fold almost flat as long as you pull the rear seat squabs up first. I notice in some of the video's that the road testers don't do that. It's the same on my Mk2 estate.

Fold Horizontal,  fold flat, level.

But a step up from the lower level at the back to the front flat area (Rear Seat Backs Folded down.)

As said in post #5, a variable floor is needed to have the floor smooth..

I have not seen one of those.

Steps are a PITA if sliding in heavy objects on your own IMO, like Flat Pack heavy boxes.

A variable floor might be good and the Manufacturers can give the figure for the space underneath,

but you lose the space area above to get a smooth floor.

Its all easily dealt with,

but over time if it keeps annoying you, then that is where the PITA bit comes in.

When you load stuff in an easy load estate car you at once remember how Skoda's 'Simply Clever',

can be 'Simply poor design' or Poor decision by those that signed off on a car

Just a note - if you're after that extra couple of mm of load height and length, you can actually remove the seat cushion all together pretty easily by undoing the metal clip.  Helped me out with a couple of long boxes.

Yep get the the optional variable boot floor, its a great idea, a bit expensive for what is a sheet of high density carpet cover MDF, but it works well and makes sense of all that lovely boot space, plus it makes the load bay flat with the rear seats folded down. Experience based on Combi model of Fabia. :)
